Dance
In addition to music and drama, we are one of the few schools that offer a core extracurricular dance program. We believe it is vital to provide students with a platform to share joy, express passion, and unleash their creativity through movement. We also believe that dance not only inspires vitality in students but also serves as a medium for people to connect and share happiness within a community.
Through our dance curriculum, students will develop fundamental dance knowledge and skills, while learning about dance cultures and history around the world through inquiry-based tasks and research projects.
Building on this knowledge, students will gain the ability to improvise and cultivate a basic sense of choreography. They are required to conduct research on a specific style of dance of their choice and present their findings at the end of the semester. Beyond exploring dance techniques, students build confidence through performance. By researching and presenting the history and context of various dances, they also develop collaboration, communication, and presentation skills—competencies that are incredibly valuable for their future development.
As the old saying goes, “If you can walk, you can dance.” At The Dean Academy (Daguang Decui College), we continuously nurture students’ diverse interests and provide various channels for creative expression, with dance being one of them.
