• Physical Education is an important foundation for cultivating a healthy physique, teamwork and resilience. The Department aims to comprehensively develop students’ physical fitness, motor skills and safety awareness through systematic curriculum design and diverse activities, while inspiring their lifelong interest in participating in sports.

• The Department adheres to the principle of teaching according to students’ abilities, valuing individual differences. Through gender-segregated classes and differentiated instruction, it formulates personalised training plans for students of varying fitness levels, enhancing classroom focus and participation while building self-confidence and self-discipline.
03. Vision and Mission
• Committed to comprehensively improving students’ physical health, with a target pass rate of ≥92% and an excellent rate increased by 10%. By optimising curriculum content, increasing training quality and enforcing attendance rates, the Department strengthens professional training for school teams and elevates overall athletic performance.
04. Curriculum Framework
• The curriculum integrates school characteristics with the needs of modern society, covering traditional ball games, athletics and gymnastics, while innovatively developing school-based courses such as senior-level fitness equipment training and grass hockey, constructing a diverse and foundational physical education system.
05. Graduate Attributes
• Students are expected to possess a solid fitness foundation, correct sports safety knowledge and rule awareness; to demonstrate teamwork and sportsmanship in team sports, learn to respect opponents and appreciate competition, and develop positive and healthy exercise habits.
06. Junior and Senior Secondary Curriculum
• The junior secondary stage focuses on establishing a solid motor foundation and physical fitness, cultivating interest through basic skills training in walking, running, jumping and throwing. The senior secondary stage deepens specialised skill learning and tactical application, increases training intensity, and guides students in planning long-term athletic development.

• Combining on-campus professional training with off-campus resources, specialist coaches are hired to guide outstanding students. Through systematic training models, students’ athletic potential and strengths are deeply explored, strengthening the professionalism and competitive edge of school teams.
08. Signature Programmes
• Establishing senior-level fitness equipment training and grass hockey courses to enrich the school’s sports culture. Integrating the campus environment with student needs, the curriculum is continuously optimised through practice and feedback, creating a unique St. Hilary’s physical education brand.
09. Teaching, Learning and Assessment
• Teaching adopts a model combining lectures and demonstrations, group practice and simulated competitions. Regular fitness tests are conducted and compared with Hong Kong or mainland normative means; quantitative assessments are made by combining training hours with competition results to dynamically adjust teaching strategies.
10. Physical Education Beyond the Classroom
• Various inter-house sports competitions and on-campus activities are actively organised. School teams are led to participate in regional, municipal and Shenzhen-Hong Kong exchange leagues and activities, allowing students to accumulate experience in actual competition and broaden their sporting horizons.
11. Leadership, Innovation and Global Learning
• Through roles such as team captains, referees or event organisers, students’ organisational and leadership skills are cultivated. Students are encouraged to participate in diverse sporting events across different systems, learning rule diversity in cross-regional exchanges and enhancing teamwork and adaptability.

• Bringing together a professional teaching team consisting of the Activity Development Director, the PE Department Head and PE teachers, each fulfilling their roles from curriculum coordination, daily teaching to equipment procurement and event coordination, while strengthening home-school communication to foster a positive sporting atmosphere.
